Kit List for an Advanced Rock Climbing Course

Waterproof footwear such as approach shoes or lightweight boots

Climbing shoes

Rucksack (approx 30l) you will be required to help carry group equipment

*Helmet

*Harness

*Belay device and carabiner

*2 x prusik loops

*Nut Key

*Trad rack and quickdraws

*These can be provided or supplemented.

Chalk Bag and Chalk (not essential)

 

Clothing:

It is best to avoid all cotton clothing. Any sort of wool clothing is good and synthetic fabrics found in specific outdoor and sports clothing are also good. In addition to your usual walking layers of a base layer/T-shirt and leg wear (it’s rarely warm enough for shorts).

 

1 x Thin fleece (or lightweight insulating layer)

1 x Thick fleece or insulating synthetic layer.

In a 'dry' bag – Either specific outdoor dry bags or durable plastic bags such as a bag for life.


Waterproof Jacket & Trousers – These could be left in the car depending on venue and weather.

Warm hat

Thin pair of Gloves

Headtorch

Lunch

Water bottle – ability to carry 1 litre of water.

Sun protection – Small sun cream, sunglasses

Insect repellent – Smidge is a good option (May to September courses)

Personal medication and small first aid kit.

Equipment PROVIDED:

First aid kit, group shelter, all technical climbing equipment including rope and rack.
