A deposit of £100 secures a place. The remainder will be due 4 weeks before the course start date.

The aim of this three day course is to introduce climbers to the joy of sea cliff climbing opening up a vast amount of climbing across the British Isles.

The course will cover skills will be according to previous experience and aspirations but will be focused on those specific to sea cliff climbing, including

  • Route selection: Guidebooks, conditions and tides.

  • Accessing routes on sea cliffs: anchors, safe abseiling.

  • Solving problems on sea cliffs: Avoidance and simple improvised rescue and self rescue.

  • Lots of climbing!

The pre-requisites for this course are to be able to belay a lead climber.

The course is based from St David’s, Pembrokeshire.

  • The course will cover skills specific to sea cliff climbing including:

    Route selction: Guidebooks, conditions and tides.

    Accessing routes on sea cliffs: anchors, safe abseiling.

    Solving problems on sea cliffs: Avoidance and simple improvised rescue and self rescue.

    Lots of climbing!

  • Participants should have experience indoor or outdoor climbing prior to the course. They should be able to belay a lead climber and have a basic outdoor fitness to spend a full day at a crag.

  • All ropes, climbing hardware and emergency group kit is supplied. Climbing harnesses and helmets can be supplied on request. Participants will need outdoor clothing and footwear, climbing shoes and food for each day according to the kit list supplied.

  • This course is run at a ratio of 1 instructor to 2 climbers.

  • The course is run from St. David’s, Pembrokeshire.

    We will meet on the first day at 9am.

  • Accommodation is not included on this course.

    There is a range of accommodation which can be booked close by including:

    In case of bad weather we will find relevant skills and activities at low level.

    We try to stay outside but may suggest going to an indoor wall if it will provide a better learning environment. Climbing wall fees are not included.

    If a participant cancels between 4 and 2 weeks before the course 50% can be refunded. If less than 2 weeks no refund is given.

    We recommend taking insurance to cover unforeseen events like illness.
